My Favorite Cleansers

This post has been a long time coming, but I think it took so long because I finally had to experience all things with my skin. Before last year I didn’t have “problem skin” by any means.

I had a number of health problems which led to hormonal issues and my skin went through a terrible time. My skin is generally dry by nature, but the hormonal imbalances made me acne prone. I couldn’t catch a break and my skin had me in tears quite often.

Anyway, that’s a story for another day, and not why you’re here on this post. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite cleansers (by use) and what makes them so great.

2017 Beauty Round Up

2017 was an amazing year for me beauty wise. Working in cosmetics retail for a number of brands, I was able to get my hands on products that I would have otherwise never touched, and let’s be honest, I got a ton of free stuff to expose me to brands that I have never heard of.

Some products weren’t for me and I wasn’t a fan, but there were a lot that I fell in love with and I wanted to share the love with you. I had three criteria in order for products to make my list (since I had used SO MANY).

Each product had to be:

  • a) something that I had never used before,
  • b) something I used consistently to prove that it worked or I really loved it and
  • c) if it was something that I got for free, it’s something that I would purchase with my own money.

Without further adieu, here are my favorite products from 2017!

Broke Girl’s Guide To Beauty

I know how easy it is to get caught up in the consumerism that is the beauty industry. It’s inevitable, we’ve all been there. You see something that you just HAVE to have, you saw your favorite guru talk about something and you immediately order it or go out and buy it. But sometimes you just don’t have the coin to keep up with your beauty wants and needs.

Last year I quit my job and took a severe pay cut. Everything was cool because emotionally I was happy, but I didn’t have the means to keep up with all of my standard beauty maintenance. I knew I had to make something work, so the next year was an eat pray love journey of sorts figuring out a new beauty routine and budget for myself.

I put a halt on it all. Hair, nails, brows, waxing. ALL OF IT! I quickly started thinking, I mean I know I’m not destitute (and everyone’s finances are different) but how were so many women affording their maintenance?!?

So in my mind I was broke, but I survived. I followed a few personal guidelines that helped me get by. A broke beauty survival guide of sorts. Look and feel like a million bucks on a budget.

Favorite Face Oils

Facial oils are all the rage these days, but this isn’t necessarily a new trend. According to many dermatologists, a face oil may be the crucial step that is missing from your skincare routine. I know what  you’re thinking if you have oily skin, “I can’t use an oil because I’m already oily”. Well that my love is false! Facial oils are great for any skin type.

Here are some key benefits to using a facial oil:

  • reduce wrinkles
  • protects your skin
  • can shrink large pores
  • can calm down rashes
  • great for warding off zits
  • repair cell damage
  • restore healthy complexion

Here are some of my favorite face oils that I’ve used.  Continue reading “Favorite Face Oils”
