Now I know this might seem a bit unorthodox on a beauty blog, but let’s be honest, beauty sleep is part of the equation of how you can look so fabulous, and lately I haven’t been sleeping well at all.
Whether it being my mind is cluttered from tragic current events in the nation, or a skewed sleep schedule from a Netflix binge, sleep is just something that has been escaping me as of late, and the bags under my eyes are there to prove it.
So when I received the ZzzQuil Sleep Aid from Influenster to review, I thought this would be a perfect time to try and get some rest. I want to be very clear am I rather fearful of sleep agents, and have never taken more than a Tylenol PM or drank sleepy time tea. At this point however, I wanted to sleep peacefully so bad I could cry. I’m a rather light sleeper, and once my sleep is broken its over.
I actually took the pills at 1 am, knowing that if I got 8 hours of sleep, I would still make it up for church on time and not miss brunch. (Clearly I had priorities). The box said that you would fall asleep within 20 minutes, so I set 30 minutes on my tv timer, and drifted away. I was awake, bright eyed and bushy tailed by 8am, and did not feel groggy at all. Mission accomplished.
While I know I wouldn’t take them all the time, non-habit forming or not, but I know that every now and then if I need a good night’s rest, I will definitely reach for these.
In the month of June I pulled out some old products I have never really used, purchased a few new things, as well as received some great samples from subscription boxes. Looking back at the month, there were clearly some favorites that I just couldn’t shake and became part of my daily routine. See what I fell in love with in the month of June! I have been loving all of the goodies I have been receiving in my ESSENCE Beauty Box as of late, and this month was no different. Of the many things that were in my box, I got the KLEENEX Facial Cleansing Wipe. Now I have to be honest, I was skeptical about trying it as I am in a long term committed relationship with my Neutrogena makeup wipes. Continue reading “Kleenex Facial Cleansing Wipes Review”
I recently received 3 of the colors from the Maybelline New York Vivd Matte Liquid lipsticks. Two of the colors came from my Influenster and one from my ESSENCE Beauty Box this month.

|Milani Amore Matte Lip Cremes: (l to r) Embrace, Beloved, Lust
I recently picked up some of the Milani Matte Lip Cremes and finally had the time to play in makeup and wear them last weekend. It wasn’t the easiest to find them in my area, and ultimately I was only able to get 3 of the 8 colors that are available. At the price of $2.99 (yes they were on sale in CVS) I’m not surprised they were so hard to find, however I was hoping the makeup gods were going to be in my favor.

This revolutionary, highly saturated liquid-to-matte formula dries to a soft, velvety finish for fuller-looking lips. Its double-sided, flexible plush applicator hugs the contours of lips, working to lock in bold, opaque color. Non-sticky, smooth and ready for all-night wear, the limited edition Amore Matte Lip Creme is the ultimate transfer resistant kiss-me-matte.
I picked up 3 of the colors in the middle of the series Lust (a rose pink), Beloved (a brown pink) and Embrace (a berry plum). So far I have worn Embrace and Beloved.
The application was very smooth and the color is very opaque. The applicator definitely makes it easier to perfectly apply the lip color even if you choose not to use a liner. The texture is very nice and they have an amazing vanilla-candy like smell that I enjoy.
I’m normally not a HUGE fan of most matte lip products, however this didn’t leave my lips feeling dry at all. It almost felt like I wasn’t wearing anything at all. I didn’t feel the need to keep checking my lips to make sure they were still on. And there wasn’t that crumbling/crackling feeling you sometimes get when using matte lip products. They are long lasting, if you’re going to be eating and drinking they will definitely fade some. While the product description says that they won’t transfer, that’s not completely true.
I think they are great. I will be hunting down the 5 other colors I don’t have at all the CVS’s in the city before I resort to buying the rest of them online. They are a winner in my book and I will be wearing them out this fall.
