BCBG Introduces 2009 Resort Collection

Ready to plan your summer vacation now? BCBG has debuted their 2009 Resort Collection online and in stores. Described as a “celebration of style from beach bound to city chic”, this collection has clean and classic separates, as well as flirty dresses with a little bit of pattern.
Although the peices in the collection are nice and well tailored (as all things BCBG are) I do not get the “resort” feel from most of the items. Some collection items include leather jackets and cardigan sweaters. Is this for fall or summer? I’m confused where the continuity in the collection is. The looks are best suited for a weekend in the Hamptons. I expected a different color pallette but it still works.
My favorite pieces are the Bubble Hemi Dress and the Colorblock Strapless Dress. There are also very adorable swimsuit cover ups that can double as day dresses.

Although I generally adore all things BCBG…this time I was thoroughly underwhelmed.

10 Wardrobe Must Haves

Tall or short; thick or thin; rich or poor, there are key items that every woman should have in her closet. The fashion guru himself Tim Gunn (made famous by Project Runway) has come up with a list of 10 key items that every woman needs. Make sure you watch his show Tim Gunn Guide To Style on Bravo. (Check your local listing for show times)

  1. Basic Black Dress
  2. Trench Coat
  3. Dress Pant
  4. Classic Shirt
  5. Jeans
  6. Any Occasion Top
  7. Skirt
  8. Day Dress
  9. Jacket
  10. Sweat Suit Alternative
Take this list and compare it with your own closet. See which items you have and which items you don’t. For items that you do have, make sure you try them on they have the best fit and are up to date. You may find that you need to audit your closet and replace some of the key items you already have.

Please be sure to read his book A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style. You can read the first chapter here!

Make Up Make Up Go Away!

I believe that just as much as women love to wear make up, they despise taking it off. I know that I sometimes feel that I just can’t get all of it off, especially eyleliner and mascara. I recently tried the new Olay Mascara + Make-up remover and I have to report that it actually worked. You simply put a small amount in your hand and massage into your face. Then follow with your normal daily cleanser. It wipes away and rinses off easily without having to scrub.

This no rinse formula breaks up and dissolves even the heaviest make-up and is still gentle enough to use daily for eye make-up removal including water proof mascara. You can find it at your local drug store for around $7.

Dazzled by MAC!

Want your lashes to enter the holiday party before you do? If so, you must try Dazzle Lash mascara by MAC. Even though I normally love all products by MAC, I have never really been a fan of their mascaras until I tried this one. Needless to say I was dazzled. It lengthens, separates and coats your lashes with a sheen for a very dramatic look.
Colors: Star Brunette and Black Dazzle ($12)
